The Berghaus Planalp is located in the Bernese Oberland in the canton of Bern, approximately halfway between Brienz and the Brienzer Rothorn. It is located at 1'342 meters above sea level and grants you with a great view over the lake of Brienz and the central alps. Dominating the Planalp is the Brienzer Rothorn (2'349 meters above sea level), which is the highest point of a route that's about 25km, from the Entlebuch and the valley from the Emme, which separates it from the east of the Bernese Oberland. It is because of this long chain of mountains, that the Rothorn almost seems two dimensional. During summer, you can reach the Berghaus easily with the Brienz Rothorn Bahn. There are also many hiking trails leading up to Planalp. In winter, when there's a lot of snow to be expected, it is a great adventure to hike up to Planalp with your snowshoes on. NEW: we'll be waking the Berghaus from hibernating in winter 2024/25. You can find further information here. From Planalp you can plan lots of different hikes on the Grat or the mountain site, with your view always changing. This mountain is the perfect place for people seeking peace as well as anyone keen to go on a hike and explore the area.
